When someone dies with a will, the executors of the will need to apply for a grant of probate so they can pay the debts of the deceased, and collect in any money due to them. They also are responsible for making sure the terms of the will are carried into effect, which can mean handling the sale of property and shares. When someone dies without a will, an appropriate person needs to apply for letters of administration. This is slightly more complex and time consuming than applying for a grant of probate. In either case, the process can be daunting, and we can help. Many of our clients opt to appoint the partners in our firm as executors of their estate in their will, so their loved ones are not burdened with the task after they have died. In other cases, someone who is an executor, or the administrator of an estate, can appoint us to carry out their functions on their behalf.
