Carlyn Gough
Paralegal Secretary
Carlyn joined Samuels as a receptionist in 2005, after working in various jobs in North Devon. Her exceptional client care skills were quickly recognised and she was encouraged to retrain as a legal secretary, working in the litigation department.
Since retraining as a legal secretary, Carlyn has worked for a number of different fee earners over the years and has for some years been the personal assistant to partner, Judith Thompson, carrying out a range of secretarial and paralegal work.
Carlyn is very knowledgeable about the practice areas in which Judith works. Carlyn assists Judith with all aspects of High Court and County Court work, dealing with issuing claims and filing documents using the court's electronic systems, preparing cases for trial, collating documents and evidence, preparing statements of costs and other court forms, and liaising with clients.
Carlyn also assists Judith with her reputation management practice, and submits applications to the various search engines for the right to be forgotten, as well as appeals to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Carlyn has helped Judith bring many complex, long running and high value disputes to a conclusion, either at trial, or through mediation and negotiation.
She is one of the most well-established and senior secretaries in the firm, with a wealth of invaluable litigation experience. Clients and colleagues value her professionalism and good humour in equal measure.
In her spare time, Carlyn enjoys walks on the moor, reading and being a mum to her young son.
