House moving given a kickstart
Laura Mather 13-05-2020
New guidelines on the property market have been released as part of the Government's road map for easing the economy out of the lockdown in the coming months.
The emphasis is still on safety but many house movers, conveyancers and estate agents will welcome the ability to complete transactions that were previously on hold or now move to agree more sales and purchases in the coming weeks.
In summary, the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2020 permit the following activities:
- visiting estate or letting agents, developer sales offices or show homes;
- viewing residential properties to look for a property to buy or rent;
- preparing a residential property to move into;
- moving home; and
- visiting a residential property to undertake any activities required for the rental or sale of that property.
At Samuels Solicitors we are well positioned to move quickly and support agents and clients with these new developments. Our IT systems are in place to facilitate remote working and this puts us in a great position to react quickly as the market re-opens.
Laura Mather, head of conveyancing in our Barnstaple office says: "The new regulations are very much welcomed and although it is still all still with the backdrop of maintaining social distance and "staying alert", ultimately it should allow more transactions to complete and give the property market a well needed boost. Our established IT systems and excellent team put us in a prime position to support the welcomed boost to the property market."
Gillian Hibbard, head of our Kingsbridge office adds: "we have been supporting our clients throughout this period and now look forward to getting more of them into their new homes. We wish the agents the very best with mapping out the next phase of this easing and hope everyone continues to stay safe”.
